While by far a leader in its field, a disastrous accident that expelled half a station's crew out an airlock into dead space has cast SpaceChem's reputation into doubt, and it is in these troubled circumstances that the player joins SpaceChem. SpaceChem was once a fishing organization that has expanded and since become an interstellar chemical engineering corporation. However, the images displayed alongside the text suggest that the protagonist is male. The story does not give any details of the player (gender, name etc), and provides the games story through a number of static screens of text. The player is cast in the role of a Trainee Reactor Engineer, working for one such corporation called SpaceChem, that specializes in the atomic and molecular manipulation. Human race, is obtaining resources, of which corporations have addressed by "rearranging" atoms and molecules to create the needed elements. With a Fusion Reactor, you can get rid of unused Hydrogen by fusing it! This will work 109 times.The game is set in the distant future, where humans have colonized other planets.If you give a global instruction with the 2nd Waldo (+bond fuse etc) at the same time, you can execute 2 commands in 1 grid-square.The red Waldo always has priority over the blue Waldo and will complete its command first each cycle.This can be exploited to make more compact solutions. This priority stays the same even if the bonders are moved. Bonders have a hidden priority which determines which order bonds will form in.A Waldo running into a wall will constantly repeat the instruction under it.Try to do as much as possible with each Waldo, in order to save on needed reactors (reactor limit!).Thus this is some kind of sync, when supply is slow from the previous reactor. Any "In" or "Out" Instruction waits on the grid square until this command can be executed.In production assignments, the length of a pipe can be extended beyond what is needed to reach the next reactor in order to provide a buffer to help stop reactors from stalling due to being unable to complete an Out Instruction.Dropping a same atom type on 2 different output-grid-squares, this may sometimes be to your advantage.This is the corresponding grid square for the input of the next reactor.
